Decide to attend ocean motion event at hayling Island Got up nice and early a was first on the beach at 8am! and its about an hour and half drive. Forcast for today was for a SW 2-3 am then 4-5 pm not what happening on the beach it was about a -2 all the flags were limp so drove up the road and had huge breakfast(well im a growning lad)
Went back to beach was still no one about (that includes no wind)
Still waiting for wind so went for lunch at the inn on the beach
Finaly the wind filled in (from the SE)enough to get out on the water rigged up big kit 8.5 and 150lt board have to admit it felt huge after using 5.3 sail at borth. Was a little underpowered on first few runs having to bare away quite a bit but this was good fun as it meant running down the back of the swell. The winds was filling in nicey and was able to get some nice long runs .
Things started to get a bit hairy as the afternoon went on as the wind increased a bit more, nice in one direction but coming back was against the chop and swell it was getting hard to keep the board on the water the board decided a few times that it wanted todo a bit of airboure freestyle, which i wouldn't mind but I was attached to it tryed a bit of a rail ride on one run but wasn't much fun with both feet still in the straps ( it all seemed to happen in slow motion all i was thinking "this is gonna hurt when I land" but lucky feet just popped out and end up as a minor caterpult.
A couple of runs later managed to get some mega spin out after a little air I was quite impress as I was using a 46cm fin!
Was just coming in to changed down to some smaller kit (people were planning on 6.5 sails now) and ................
the wind dropped couldn't even get going on 8.5. It was about 5.30 by now so decide to derig as it was getting cloudly and was looking like rain.
Derigged and packed up car as the rain started to fall, stopped at pub with other omwc members for dinner, left about 8.30 for drive home which enabled me to see that the SW 5 that was forcast had arrived would have been ok if we had flood lit sailing.

Four stars felt comfortable most of the time being able to stomp around on big board and swing from a big sail !
